SEOUL -- South Korean artificial intelligence company ESTsoft has released a virtual fitness trainer for those who want to learn pilates and yoga at home. After analyzing users' movements, the virtual instructor helps trainees to exercise properly and give various advice on Howfit, an AI-based fitness training application.

Howfit said in its Instagram post on May 12: "We are showcasing virtual human Kim Yi-so’s pilates class on Howfit!" The virtual trainer created by ESTsoft provides a free course consisting of eight lessons which are 120 minutes each. Currently, the level of training is adjusted for beginners to attract as many users as possible. Users can participate in giveaway events from May 12 to 28.

ESTsoft said the company will expand its AI virtual human service to other areas including meditation and dietary management. The company will collaborate with the operator of Howfit called "Shinhan Cube ON." Shinhan Cube ON is the digital healthcare wing of Shinhan Life Insurance, an insurance wing of South Korea's major financial group Shinhan Financial.

The adoption of artificial humans is gaining momentum in various sectors in South Korea. In July 2021, virtual influencer Rozy was selected as a model for Shinhan Life Insurance, an insurance wing of South Korea's major financial group Shinhan Financial. MAVE:, a virtual K-pop idol created by the metaverse wing of South Korea's leading game publisher Netmarble, released its debut album "Pandora Box" in January 2023. The music video for the album's title track "Pandora" gained more than 22 million views as of May 12.
