SEOUL -- K-pop girl band NewJeans was included in the list of 100 most influential Asians in the United States by Gold House, a nonprofit organization that supports Asian and Pacific artists and creators. The five-member band that captivated global fans through dance songs such as Attention, Ditto, and OMG was listed along with American fashion designer Anna Sui and Shohei Ohtani, a Japanese baseball pitcher.

"Just like a pair of jeans that has been a staple of every wardrobe for generations, NewJeans aim to allure the listeners with timeless music to be kept in your daily music playlist," Gold Power said in a statement after including the group in "A100," an annual list of Asians who have greatly impacted the U.S. culture and society. The organization highlighted the girl band's achievements such as entering Billboard's weekly song chart with Ditto and OMG.

OMG and Ditto were the most consumed songs in the U.S. as of February 13 on Spotify, the world's most popular music streaming service. The girl band's debut song Attention also entered Billboard's global chart just nine days after its release and the weekly top song USA chart on Spotify, less than 50 days after the band's debut.

The girl group formed by ADOR, a subsidiary label of the agency of K-pop superstar BTS is known for its unique dance performances and singing skills in different genres such as R&B, electropop, and hip hop. Group members are aged between 15 and 18.

"The quintet aspires to push the limits of K-pop with honest and authentic music that exudes youth," said Gold Power. The nonprofit organization has also selected Steve W. Chung, a chief global officer at CJ ENM, a South Korean entertainment group that produced the Oscar-winning 2020 film "Parasite," and Joseph Chang, CEO of Kakao Entertainment America.
