Green or blue screens utilize chroma key technology, a time-consuming process that layers images or video over a solid color screen in post-production. With in-camera visual effects (ICVFX), the LED wall creates unprecedented levels of lighting and reflection accuracy. Less time spent on lighting and tweaking creates more time to focus on capturing the actual shoot.
With ICVFX, the camera is able to capture images and bring them to life in a much clearer, crisper way than post-production can offer. The 3D background responds in real-time to the camera movement, eliminating the need to sync up actors and backgrounds after everything has been shot.
"We will become the best business partner to think with customers and supply products that they want in a timely manner in order to proactively respond to rapidly changing needs of customers and markets," LG's information display business head Paik Ki-mun said in a statement on February 8.
LED signage for virtual production requires excellent quality, design flexibility that can be installed according to various studio types, and advanced software capabilities that synchronize background screens in real-time and implement various colors. In Hanam, a southern satellite city of Seoul, LG Electronics and VA Corporation opened a joint research center where they can jointly develop virtual reality content using real-time visual effect techniques.
VA Corporation has been recognized for its outstanding technology and infrastructure in vietual production. LG Electronics and VA Corporation have maintained their partnership since August 2021 when they agreed to meet increasing demands for metaverse platforms.
