SK Shieldus showcases AI-based video monitoring solution

SEOUL -- SK Shieldus, the security service wing of South Korea's mobile carrier SK Telecom, released an artificial intelligence-based video monitoring solution that provides various services including surveillance and big data-based customer analysis. The new solution can be used by store operators to set up marketing strategies based on customer-related information collected by the smart solution.

SK Shieldus said in a statement on December 22 that the new solution called "Caps ViewGuard AI" was released. The solution can collect customer data and create statistical reports based on customer information including the number of visitors, gender and age. The smart solution can also analyze the movement of people and vehicles in video images.

"While the conventional video monitoring solution has focused on the protection of customers' assets, the new solution can also play the role of a business partner and help their human companions increase profits," Park Jin-hyo, CEO of SK Shieldus, was quoted as saying. The company expects that the new solution will be used in various sectors such as schools and apartment complexes for safety purposes, and retail stores for customer analysis.
