Robotic process automation (RPA) is an artificial intelligence (AI)-based work assistant solution that takes care of simple and repetitive work such as paperwork, sorting files, categorizing documents, and analyzing and evaluating submitted forms.
The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (MPVA) said in a statement on November 29 that it has adopted an RPA solution to assist human workers in nine work categories including the selection and registration of war veterans. The ministry will gradually increase the number of RPA-supported work categories to up to 62.
The adoption of a robot helper originated from an idea proposed by an MPVA official. The ministry's RPA will receive work requests through a dedicated chat messenger. When chores are finished, the robot will send notifications to the client using chat messages. The solution can save up to 18,679 work hours every year.
"We will spend saved work hours to make war veterans and patriots' lives better," the ministry said. RPA solutions have gained popularity in various sectors. In December 2020, South Korea's retail giant Shinsegae released a report that RPA systems have increased the accuracy and speed of product quality management for its online shopping mall. Shinsegae's RPA was up to 18 times more accurate in detecting errors than human workers.
