Various forms of overnight delivery services are popular in South Korea due to a coronavirus pandemic. SSG.com, Shinsegae's online shopping mall, offered a ready-in-the-morning delivery service for groceries including fresh food ingredients and everyday necessities such as hygiene products.
SSG.com said in a statement that an overnight delivery service for some 300 kinds of beauty products would begin on July 15. The beauty products include women's cosmetics, sunblocks, and skincare products for men. All products will be sealed and packed inside an insulated bag.
Unlike ordinary online shopping malls that take a few days to deliver products, an overnight delivery system is based on local self-owned logistic warehouses filled with selected products that are frequently sought by consumers. "We have prioritized in selecting products that are popular among female consumers in their 30s," SSG said.
The online shopping mall operator would expand its overnight delivery service. "We will monitor consumer reaction and expand the number of products to up to some 3,500 by the end of 2021," SSG.com management division head Kwak Jeong-woo was quoted as saying.
