SEOUL -- Hanwha Techwin, a surveillance and optoelectronics company in South Korea, will release a camera-based solution with various functions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by utilizing AI technology.

AI cameras can measure the distance between people in real-time and automatically inform them when they get closer than the reference distance, Hanwha Techwin said. If the reference distance is violated, alarm devices will work with speakers and monitors to issue quarantine guidelines.

Cameras installed in places for exhibitions, fairs and lectures will monitor the entry of people in real-time and manage the number of people staying in a particular space. If the appropriate number of people is exceeded, entry will be restricted through an alert.

AI cameras would accurately find those who are not wearing face masks. Hanwha Techwin said its thermal imaging camera can be used in heat detection mode to prevent infectious diseases, or in ordinary mode to manage facilities and strengthen security depending on the purpose of use.

In 2020, the company launched new AI cameras that can detect key information such as face and plate numbers, save only meaningful data and find those who are not wearing face masks. In February 2021, the company unveiled a network video recorder and a security solution that can analyze human faces.
