The Wi-Fi 6E designation was announced in 2020 for any Wi-Fi 6 products that support a 6GHz wireless spectrum. Wi-Fi 6E enables faster speeds and lower latencies than Wi-Fi 6. The jump from 5GHz to 6GHz quadruples the amount of airwaves available for routers and smart devices. The increased spectrum means lower latency for online games, video calls, or virtual computing sessions.
Neo QLED, unveiled in January, increases the luminance scale to make dark areas darker and bright areas brighter. Samsung used a new light source called Quantum Mini LED. Instead of using a lens to disperse light, and a package to fix the LED in place, thin microlayers were filled with many more LEDs. Samsung has strengthened Neo QLED's game functions, allowing gamers to enjoy a wider field of view and quickly monitor and adjust critical aspects of play.
Samsung said Neo QLED 8K TVs can support larger bandwidth loads, process faster multi-gigabit data, enable low latency and provide reliable and secure connectivity. "Samsung is proud to have achieved the world’s first Wi-Fi 6E certification on our TVs," Choi Young-hun, executive vice president of Samsung's visual display business, said in a statement on March 30.
As TVs and mobile devices continue to evolve into connectivity hubs for consumers across a variety of lifestyle routines, demand for handling high data capacity has increased. Samsung said Neo QLED 8K TVs with Wi-Fi 6E support are for consumers looking for premium viewing experiences at home.
