[TRAVEL] K-HEALING trips to Jechoen and Cheongju in North Chungcheong Province

SEOUL -- For healing holidays, Jecheon and Cheongju in North Chungcheong Province provide perfect quarters to travelers who wish to enjoy beautiful scenery and rest without any interruption. The two cities offer a variety of outdoor activities and good hearty food that can relieve stress.

Jecheon and Cheongju have beautiful natural surroundings with unique tourism resources: Cheongju's Cheongpung Lake, Cheongnamdae Presidential Villa and Jecheon's K-Culture Road with an immersive experience in K-pop and oriental medicine.

Korea Tourism Organization's Sejong & Chungcheongbuk-do Office recommends Jecheon and Cheongju as tourist spots that offer a clean environment, art, and cultural and emotional experiences.

Jecheon, the heart of "K-Healing tourism" with medicinal herbs:

Jecheon famous for medicinal herbs is an ideal place to rest and heal. Travelers can enjoy tasty local menus and go for a drive around Cheongpung Lake or a scenic boat ride. A trip to mountain tops using a cable car is good for clearing the mind. Cheongpung Lake offers a lot of outdoor activities such as kayaking, bungee jumping or the thrill-ride using a zip line. Areas around Cheongpung such as Uirimji Reservoir and forests are suitable for healing trips.

Jecheon is the hub of South Korea's medicinal herbs collected from nearby mountains. The city has one of the country's largest medicinal herb markets and offers a variety of "Yakseon," which means food that is good for the body as medicine. Jecheon released "Yakchaerak," a city brand representing menus that utilize ancient Yakseon cooking methods. The brand is given to designated local restaurants with a variety of menus such as Bibimbap and Baeksuk, which is a type of traditional chicken soup using medicinal herbs as sub-ingredients. Traditional markets are must-visit places. Many tasty street foods made with medicinal herbs are available.

Cheongju, the city of K-Road full of culture and emotions:
Cheongju is well known for education and culture. The lakeside city is ideal for an overnight trip. Cheongnamdae Presidential Villa has a four-hour scenic on-foot tour course where travelers can relax their mind and body.

K-Road is a section of Cheongju and attracts global K-pop fans. The cultural street has places used by top K-pop idols such as BTS and EXO for filming music videos. Photo zones are set up for special moments. In nearby streets, popular K-dramas were filmed. It is an ideal spot for enjoying the night scenery of Cheongju. Samgyeopsal, a grilled pork belly marinated in soy sauce, is one of Cheongju's delicacies. The savory menu is the perfect way to decorate the finale of trips to  Cheongju.
