SEOUL -- Doosan Solus, an electronic component company in South Korea, has secured a four-year deal worth 100 billion won ($82.6 million) to provide thin copper foils to an unspecified electric vehicle battery company from 2021.

Doosan Solus said Monday that its subsidiary in Hungary has clinched the deal before it completed the construction of its battery foil plant in the Tatabanya industrial complex. "The conclusion of a series of long-term supply contracts is the result of global customers' recognition of the performance and quality of the Doosan Solus battery foils," said CEO Lee Yoon-seok.

Doosan Solus has been building the plant in Hungary to expand the production of 50,000 tons of battery foils to 50,000 tons per year. The company has developed high-end, efficient battery foil products since it acquired Circuit Foil based in Luxembourg in 2014.

Doosan Solus, spun off from Doosan Corp., manufactures copper foils, related products and electronic materials.
