SEOUL -- Com2uS, a game publisher in South Korea, teamed up with Skybound Entertainment, a U.S. entertainment company, to create a mobile game based on "The Walking Dead," a long-running comic series that depict a zombie-infested apocalyptic world.

The comic series has captured the hearts of millions of comic readers worldwide since the first episode was published in 2003. It was recreated into a TV drama series in 2010. Com2uS said Thursday that it has forged a strategic investment and intellectual property (IP) business cooperation partnership with Skybound Entertainment.

"This will be an opportunity for both companies to expand their presence in the global market and create synergy," a Com2uS official was quoted as saying. The game publisher said it will keep developing IPs that would draw a positive reaction from global users.

Com2uS, founded in 1998 as a small PC game company, produced games for mobile phones in the early 2000s and gradually shifted to smartphone games in the early 2010s. The company has released globally popular games such as "Summoners War" and "Tiny Farm" series.
