SEOUL -- SuperM, an "all-star" unit band comprised of SM Entertainment's boy bands, set a milestone by topping Billboard's weekly top albums chart. SuperM is the second K-pop act to take Billboard's main chart crown after BTS.

Billboard, a prominent American music magazine, said that the K-pop all-star band has debuted at No.1 on Billboard 200 albums chart, a weekly albums chart ranking the 200 most popular albums in the United States, with "SuperM: The 1st Mini Album", released on October 5.

"SuperM’s handsome start was encouraged mightily by an array of permutations in which to purchase the album, which was likely very appealing to the group’s fans, since K-pop fans are often passionate about buying collectible physical packages of an album," Billlboard said in a news article.

Inspired by the stellar success of BTS, SM has launched SuperM including Baekhyun and Kai of EXO, SHINEE's Taemin, NCT's Taeyong and Mark, and WayV members Lucas and Ten.  BTS took the top spot with "LOVE YOURSELF: TEAR" on June 2, 2018.
