SEOUL -- NHN Entertainment, one of South Korea's largest game publishers, will make its foray into the global business cloud market this year, starting with a regional base in Tokyo in February by leasing local servers.

NHN supports hybrid, private and multi-cloud services. The company's "open stack" technology is based on open sources.

"Most cloud companies are adopting a technology-first strategy, but in reality, there is a gap in capabilities to compete with global companies," Kim Dong-hoon, who heads NHN's cloud business division, told reporters on Tuesday. "We will improve customer satisfaction by disseminating service experiences."

NHN launched Toast, a cloud service for game and app developers, in December 2014. It now runs more than 30,000 projects for 500 corporate customers.

"The open stack is much better in terms of scalability and stability than cloud services" launched by other South Korean companies such as Naver, Kim said, adding NHN has built experience with cloud services that are sensitive to service disruptions or security issues.
