Hyundai Motor unveiled South Korea's first electric bus called " Elec City " capable of traveling up to 290 kilometers (179 miles) on a single charge. Commercial production will begin next year.
The 27-seat bus, displayed at a commercial vehicle exhibition on Thursday, is powered by a 256 kilowatt-per-hour battery. It takes 67 minutes to recharge the lithium-ion polymer battery. Starting with Elec City , Hyundai vowed to speed up the development of eco-friendly commercial vehicles.
