Actress Lee Young-ae, who is known for the 2003 hit Korean television series "Daejanggeum (Jewel in the Palace)," has been named the star of Korean historical dramas by the Korean Folk Village, a Joseon-era theme park in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The drama aired on MBC.

The awards ceremony will be held Aug. 24 at the folk village, officials of the theme park said Thursday.

After a 11-year hiatus, the 44-year-old Lee is scheduled to return to the small screen with the period drama "Saimdang, the Herstory," which will air on SBS in 2016. The drama depicts the life of Shin Saimdang (1504-1551), the mother of Yulgok, a prominent Confucian scholar of Korea's Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910), according to the local broadcaster.
