World Cup final draws 14.7% viewer rating in South Korea

The 2014 FIFA World Cup final between Germany and Argentina recorded an average viewer rating of 14.7 percent in South Korea, a rating measurement company in Seoul said on Tuesday. Germany beat Argentina 1-0 to win the World Cup final in Brazil, Sunday (local time).

KBS2 took the lion’s share of 7.3 percent, followed by MBC with 4.8 percent and SBS with 2.6 percent, according to Nielsen Company Korea.

The 14.7 percent rating was much lower than 52.5 percent for the Group H preliminary round match between South Korea and Russia.

The comparable figure stood at:

-33.6 percent for the preliminary round match between South Korea and Belgium.

-28.3 percent for the preliminary round match between South Korea and Algeria.

-21.8 percent for the Group C preliminary round match between Japan and Cote d’Ivoire.

-19.8 percent for the preliminary round match between Japan and Greece.

-18.9 percent for Group D preliminary round match between Italy and England.

-15.5 percent for the semi-final match between the Netherlands and Argentina.

-11.5 percent for the Group F preliminary round match between Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

-10.7 percent for the third-place playoff between Brazil and the Netherlands. The Netherlands won 3-0 over Brazil and took the third place of the tournament.
