The ruling and main opposition parties have agreed to convene an extraordinary session of the National Assembly on Feb. 4 to deal with bills regarding the inauguration of the next government.

The agreement came in a meeting of floor leaders of the ruling Saenuri Party and the main opposition Democratic United Party (DUP) in the National Assembly building in Seoul on Jan. 31.

The 30-day session will handle bills on reorganization of govenment offices, party officials said. The legislature will also hold confirmation hearings for prime minister- and other Cabinet miniter-nominees.

President-elect Park Geun-hye is set to be sworn in as the country's first female president on Feb. 25.

The floor leaders also agreed that labor troubles at Ssangyong Motor will be handled by a panel comprised of three lawmakers from each party, the officials said.
