South Korea’s Gyeonggi Province Agricultural Research and Extension Services have developed thorn-less rose species, which makes harvesting and packing effortless.

The thorn-less roses are invented in two types- the powdery pink rose ‘Venus’ and the bright pink rose ‘Feel Lip’. They will bloom to its full even on hot summer days and both species can be produced in larger numbers in a period of five days, less than average roses.

The general director of Gyeonggi Province Agricultural Research said, “We secure a variety of domestic and foreign seeds for crossbreeding, to come up with one or two promising cultivars a year.“

These two types of Korean thorn-less rose species have already lured many overseas buyers, as more than 60-thousand ‘Feel Lips’ will be cultivated in Ecuador as well as in Kenya.

The main benefit of popularity of the thorn-less roses is each rose will rake in one dollar of royalty payment for the Gyeonggi Province institute.
