BAT Korea to spend 100 bln won on upgrading facility

British American Tobacco (BAT) Korea said Monday that it plans to spend 100 billion won (US$83.4 million) to upgrade its production facility in southern South Korea.

   The company, which sells Dunhill, Vogue and other cigarette brands, established a local production facility in Sacheon, about 437 kilometers south of Seoul, in 2002.

   BAT Korea is a leading foreign cigarette company in South Korea whose market share stood at 18 percent in the country as of end-April.

   BAT Korea also exports cigarettes to 15 countries. / Yonhap News
