SEOUL -- Hyundai Rotem, a train-making subsidiary of South Korea's Hyundai auto group, has secured a contract worth 218.8 billion won ($186 million) to supply trams that would run on  Valley Line West, a route connecting the center of Edmonton, a city in the Canadian province of Alberta, and the western region.

Hyundai Rotem has secured multiple deals abroad to supply trains with differentiated technology. In Canada, the company optimized the interior layout to enhance space efficiency and increase the ratio of seats more than standard specifications. LED indicators were applied on the side of trams to improve aesthetic effects and secure night visibility.

Along with a temperature maintenance system, Hyundai Rotem adopted an entrance structure with excellent wheelchair accessibility while providing customized education and training packages as well as virtual and augmented reality programs for driver's room simulation and part maintenance education.
