The donation ceremony involving Atomy Chairman Park Han-gil and Compassion Korea's Executive director Seo Jeong-in was held at Atomy Vision Hall located in the central city of Gongju on October 15.
"We should not forget to share because we earned a lot of money. We must not forget to share at any circumstances," Chairman Park said, adding: "Social contribution is a must, not a choice." Compassion Korea will use the donated money to help nurture infrastructure in Haiti that was struck by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in August 2021. The money will be spent on other global charity projects such as the COVID-19 relief project, the teenager nurturing program for the Asian region, and support funds for children without a sponsor.
The Haiti support program will provide emergency supplies for earthquake-stricken families and children from 46 community centers. All 46 children's centers will be reconstructed. The temporary shelter support program will be operated until May 2022.
The emergency COVID-19 relief project is designed to help children and their families suffering from the aftermath of a coronavirus pandemic. The teenage nurturing project will educate and train youngsters while the support program for children without sponsors will help them live a normal life. Growing 25 funds will be used for the development of educational content for the next generation.
Atomy is South Korea's largest direct-selling company that globally raised sales of 1.9 trillion won ($1.6 billion) in 2020. The company had donated more than 40 billion won, which is about 10 percent of sales made through the last three years, to support the global society. According to the direct selling company, Atomy has been making donations since the company was at its startup phase.
The company has provided support for people suffering from famine or diseases by donating medical buses to Cambodia. Atomy's goal is to provide support for people suffering from famine and diseases. In China, the direct-selling company provides medical support for cleft lip and palate patients. In Taiwan and Malaysia, Atomy operates a charity running program to raise educational funds.
"Together with the global society, Atomy will continue to make efforts to keep children happy," Park said, stressing that "sharing must always be done."
