SEOUL -- Studio Dragon, the drama-making wing of South Korea's entertainment group CJ ENM, has forged a partnership with YLAB, an online entertainment studio, to dramatize popular webcomics, also known as webtoons, for the global over-the-top content market.

Studio Dragon said in a statement on March 29 that it would dramatize "Super String," a fictional universe. "Based on YBLAB's successful IPs and Studio Dragon's project planning and production capabilities, we will dramatize superhero-themed content and nurture the connected universe into a global franchise IP," said Studio Dragon head Kang Chul-gu.

Super String's universe consists of interlinked stories of YBLAB's popular webtoon content such as "ISLAND," "Blade of the Phantom master," and "Terror Man." The fictional universe depicts the stories of epic battles between superheroes and villains.

Studio Dragon forged a partnership with Netflix, the world's top over-the-top service, in 2019 to create original content. The drama maker has successfully attracted a global audience with "Sweet Home," a Netflix Original remake of a South Korean webtoon, in 2020.
