SEOUL -- Manna Drone Delivery, a Dublin-based startup, has tied up with Samsung Electronics to provide drone delivery to Irish customers when they purchase the latest range of Samsung's Galaxy devices, including S21 smartphones. It is Samsung's first service of its kind globally.

The new service will facilitate an end-to-end contactless experience for customers, Samsung said in a statement, adding it would first be made available in Oranmore, a town on the outskirts of Galway on the west coast of Ireland. Samsung and Manna would expand the service nationwide in the future.

"We're really excited to be the first technology company in Ireland to make our products available to our customers via drone delivery," Samsung Ireland's online head Eamonn Grant said in a statement on March 24. "Superior customer experience is at the heart of what we do and with this new service we are embracing what we believe will be the future of retail."

Manna provides drone delivery as a service stack to restaurant chains, dark kitchens, and online food delivery platforms. Manna drones fly at an altitude of 50~80 meters and a speed of over 60 kilometers per hour kph, enabling delivery to homes in Oranmore within 3 minutes.

"This partnership with Samsung marks the first of its kind in the world," said Manna chief technology officer Alan Hicks. "We recognize that the potential for the application of drone delivery is enormous."
