SEOUL -- Instead of visiting showrooms, consumers can now watch Hyundai Motor's auto-related events at their homes. The company has opened "Channel Hyundai," a non-contact service that can be accessed from 190 countries by using a dedicated smart TV app or other devices such as PCs and smartphones.

Hyundai Motor, a top carmaker in South Korea, has rolled out a new marketing strategy that allows car-enthusiasts to remotely enjoy showroom events with smart TVs. "We have created a new service in which consumers can enjoy clear and high definition content using TVs," a Hyundai official said in a statement. The carmaker will unveil the latest model of Tucson, a compact SUV, through its online showroom service on September 15.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, global companies have sought new ways to promote products or carry out events without physical audience. Samsung held an online event in August to introduce its new premium phone, "Galaxy Note 20." South Korean retailers are utilizing various social media and online shopping mall apps targeting home-dwellers through TV-like real-time home shopping broadcasts. BTS held an online live concert through the band's mobile fan club app in June to attract more than 700,000 viewers worldwide.
