SEOUL -- South Korea's Hyundai's auto group unveiled the revamped version of G80, a full-size flagship sedan of its Genesis brand. The company said G80's new design is a hybrid of classic and modern silhouettes.

"The All-new G80 perfectly bears Genesis' design concept identity of 'Athletic Elegance,'" Hyundai dais in a statement released through its news blog on Thursday. The carmaker also revealed four images showing the exterior and interior of the new G80.

G80 has been the iconic model of Genesis since the brand was launched in 2008. Hyundai did not disclose when the latest version would hit the market.

"Based on the design identity of Genesis, a balance of dynamics and elegance, we will create new Genesis' luxuriousness," Genesis Design Center head Lee Sang-yeop was quoted as saying.

Hyundai said that the interior provides a spacious design that is optimized to provide the ideal cockpit-feel and houses a 14.5-inch infotainment system that recognizes characters so that the driver can simply control features by writing letters on the infotainment's system.

Hyundai's Genesis was separated to compete with luxury car brands such as Mercedes Benz and BMW in the global market. Genesis models have received positive feedback for their safety, luxurious designs and price competitiveness.
