SEOUL -- BTS has set a new record in pre-order album sales with "MAP OF THE SOUL : 7", which is scheduled to be released on February 21.

DREAMUS COMPANY, the distributor of BTS' new album, said Thursday that more than 3.42 million pre-orders of MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 were made from home and abroad between January 9 and 15. The upcoming album is also popular on Amazon, the world's largest online shopping mall. MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 has topped the list of best sellers in CD and Vinyl category.

BTS broke its own record. The previous record was set by "MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA", released in April last year, with 2.68 million pre-orders in its first five days.

BTS embarked on a month-long journey to prepare for the release of its album last week. The band launched a campaign with 22 renowned artists to expand its philosophy and values into modern art language.

Through the exhibition of artworks in London, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Seoul and New York from January through March 27, BTS runs a project called "Connect, BTS". The campaign was designed to convey BTS' messages to affirm diversity over differences by combining content and context.
