LAS VEGAS -- Top executives from major South Korean business groups such as Samsung, Hyundai, and SK gathered at Las Vegas before the opening of CES 2020, the world's largest technology exhibition.

In addition to major group heads including Hyundai Motor Group Executive vice chairman Chung Eui-sun and the representatives of small and medium-sized companies, South Korean executives have listed their names as CES observers. The line of CEOs prompted industrial officials to say that CES in Las Vegas has become similar to a South Korean business summit.

Chung Eui-sun and Samsung Electronics consumer electronics division head Kim Hyun-suk are in Las Vegas to competitively present the long-term vision of their companies to global partners and customers at the opening of a new decade.

Chung, the only group head of four major conglomerates to attend CES 2020, used a private jet to visit Las Vegas. At Hyundai Motor Group's media meeting on January 6, he is to present a vision of future mobility, accompanied by Hyundai Motor president, Gong Young-woon and Hyundai Mobis president Park Chung-kuk.

Hyundai has announced that it would unveil its human-centered mobility vision including urban air mobility (UAM), purpose-based mobility (PBV) and a hub (mobility transfer point) at CES 2020.

Those from major South Korean electronics companies such as Samsung and LG, the main players at CES, will show off their presence in the market. Samsung's device solutions division head Kim Ki-nam and IT and mobile division head Koh Dong-jin will attend the annual trade fair.

Kim will be a keynote speaker to lecture on "Lifestyle Innovation." He arrived at Las Vegas three days ago to prepare for his speech and check the exhibition area. Other Samsung officials at CES include Samsung Display president Lee Dong-hoon and Samsung Electro-Mechanics president Lee Yoon-tae.

LG Group representatives from new subsidiaries will deliver messages. Group executives who will be in Las Vegas include LG Electronics president Kwon Bong-seok, LG Display president Jung Ho-young, LGU+ vice president Ha Hyun-hwoi, LG Innotek CEO Jeong Cheol-dong and LG CNS CEO Kim Young-seop.

-- CES draw many SK executives and economic organization officials --

SK executives who will visit CES 2020 to outline innovations in the mobility sector include SK Networks chairman Chey Shin-won, SK Group vice chairman Chey Jae-won, Sk Supex Council chairman Cho Dae-sik, SK Innovation CEO Kim Jun, SK Telecom CEO Park Jung-ho, SK hynix CEO Lee Seok-hee and SKC CEO Lee Wan-jae.

Economic group members are Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Park Yong-man who has organized his first trip to CES. The Korea International Trade Association will dispatch visitors to CES.

According to the Korea Information and Communication Technology Industry Association (KICTA), about 390 Korean companies will participate in CES 2020. This is the second largest number after the United States and China.
