SEOUL -- RM, the leader of K-pop band BTS, has donated a sum of money to a local school for the hearing-impaired, asking teachers to help deaf students learn the joy of music.

Seoul Samsung School, a special school for hearing-impaired children, said in a statement on Friday that the 25-year-old has donated 100 million won ($84,173) on September 16 to commemorate his September 12 birthday. The school in southern Seoul has some 120 students.

The school plans to teach students music and expand their art performance.

BTS members have actively engaged in movements to tackle social problems such as poverty, disability and violence against children. They have worked with the United Nations Children's Fund to lead a  LOVE MYSELF campaign.
