Doosan Heavy said on Monday that it would supply a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler and turbines for the 110-megawatt Palu3 thermal power plant run by PT PLN, an Indonesian state power company, by 2023. The CFB boiler reduces the discharge of pollutants such as nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide and meets Indonesia's strengthened environment regulations.
The order, worth about 120 billion won ($100.5 million), confirmed Doosan's technological prowess in Indonesia's power generation market, Doosan Heavy's power service business head Mok-jin-won said, citing a series of orders the company has clinched Indonesia.
In September last year, Doosan Heavy signed a deal with PT Indo Raya Tenaga, an Indonesian joint venture, to build two 1,000-megawatt Jawa 9 and 10 power stations by 2023 in Java, the geographic and economic center of Indonesia. Doosan would build ultra-supercritical (USC) power plants which operate at temperatures and pressures above the critical point of water and require less coal per megawatt-hour, leading to lower emissions, higher efficiency and lower fuel costs.
