SEOUL -- Akdong Musician, a brother-sister duo band, is reportedly preparing for its comeback in late September. The band has been on a hiatus for about two years since Lee Chan-hyuk, the older brother, joined a marine unit in September 2017.

Joy News 24, an online media outlet, reported on Wednesday, citing multiple unnamed officials from the music industry, that Akdong Musician is preparing for the release of a new album in late September or in early October.

If confirmed, it would be the group's first album to be released after Lee Chan-hyuk was discharged in May this year. Lee Soo-hyun, the younger sister, appeared in the popular TV music show series "Begin Again" while her brother was away.

Akdong Musician stepped into the spotlight in 2012 when the duo participated in the second season of "KPOP STAR", a TV music audition show. The band mesmerized South Korean music lovers with its witty lyrics and hooky tunes, all written and composed by the band's members.

Since the duo debuted with its first album "PLAY" in April 2014, it has released hit songs such as "200%", "LAST GOODBYE" and "DINOSAUR".
