SEOUL -- South Korea's web service giant Kakao will share core technologies with outside developers through a technology-sharing website to reveal open-sources and grow together.

"We hope that Kakao developers and developers from outside the company communicate and grow together," Kakao's chief technology officer Shin Jung-hwan said during a conference in Seoul on Thursday.

Kakao said that it has opened "Kakao Tech", a technology-sharing website, to reveal open-sources and other examples from Kakao's services and development. Kakao also opened its artificial intelligence (AI) research results to GitHub, a global software development platform.

Some tech companies release their projects and technologies as open-source that allows other developers to build on top of open projects and develop technologies while creating a communication channel to share innovative ideas.
