SEOUL -- South Korean Actor Ju Ji-hoon, who received global attention by appearing in Netflix Original Zombie drama series "Kingdom", sustained minor wrist injuries while shooting an action scene.

Fans were surprised on Tuesday night when Ju, 37, uploaded social media pictures that showed him wearing a cast over his left hand and wrist.

Ju left no special comments but thanked actor Lee Jung-jae for sending him a coffee truck to the drama set. Ju and Lee had played lead roles in the blockbuster hit film series "Along with the Gods".

As fans expressed concerns about Ju's condition, KeyEast Entertainment said in a statement on Wednesday that Ju had his wrist sprained while shooting an action scene. The agency assured fans that Ju is able to attend a fan meeting on July 21 because his injury is nothing serious.

Ju played the lead role of Crowned Prince Yi Chang in "Kingdom", a Netflix drama which premiered in January this year. The first season of the drama series, which depicts the zombie-infested medieval Joseon period, received 89 percent approval rating from the global users of Rotten Tomatoes, an online film review aggregator. The second season is to premiere in 2020.

"Kingdom", created entirely in the Korean language, was an ambitious work by the world's largest video-on-demand over-the-top content service provider to attract subscribers globally. Netflix currently has about 1.84 million subscribed users in South Korea.
