K-pop band BTS sets new record in offline album sales in S. Korea

SEOUL -- K-pop band BTS has set a new record in Gaon Monthly Chart, a state music ranking service, by selling more than 3.2 million physical copies of "MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA", the group's latest album, in April.

According to Gaon Chart on Thursday, BTS sold 3,229,032 copies of its new album at offline shops between April 12 and 30, setting a new record since the Gaon started its music ranking service in 2011. The previous record was also set by BTS in August 2018 when the group sold some 2.1 million copies of the group's album "LOVE YOURSELF: Answer".

BTS, which is on a world tour, held a two-day concert at Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles on May 4 and 5. More concerts will be held in Chicago on May 11 and 12.
