4.3-magnitude quake rattles S. Korea's east coast, causes no casualties

SEOUL -- A 4.3 magnitude earthquake rattled the east coast of the Korean peninsula, but no casualties or grave property damage were reported because the epicenter was located in waters some 54 kilometers (33.4 miles) northeast of the port city of Donghae.

The tremor began at 11:16 a.m. on Friday, shaking buildings and trees in coastal towns for several seconds, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Frightened people rushed out of apartment, office and other buildings and evacuated to safe places, but no injuries or death was reported.
It was the second time this year that an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 or higher has struck South Korea. On February 10, a 4.1 magnitude quake occurred some 50 km off the coast of Pohang,
