KT to live broadcast multi-point-of-view music show i using 5G technology

SEOUL -- To attract young and tech-savvy consumers with differentiated services, South Korea's largest telecom company KT will start live broadcasting a popular cable TV music show in multi-point-of-view angles using its 5G technology.

KT said in a statement Wednesday that it would launch "Musician Live", a 5G-based live music show broadcast service, to provide different angles of live music stages. KT users can watch the show up to five screens simultaneously using 5G smartphones.

"Without the necessity of visiting concert halls, consumers can use 5G technology to enjoy realistic performance contents," KT's new media business team head Kim Hoon-bae was quoted as saying.

The first broadcast will cover "M Countdown", a live music show operated by cable TV channel Mnet, on Thursday. Users can enjoy full HD images and chat in real-time.

KT has also built a 5G contents production space called "WEST BRIDGE in Seoul. The telecom company plans to invite indie artists and hip-hop artist to regularly live broadcast the stage in virtual reality (VR) video and multi-point-of-view angles. Mobile carriers began providing 5G services for smartphone users this month.
