SEOUL -- Yong Jun-hyung, a member of K-pop boy band Highlight formerly known as BEAST, quit his group, apologizing for sharing an illegally filmed sex video file through a chat room involving Jung Joon-young, a singer who was questioned by police for playing a key role in a sex video scandal.

Taking responsibility for his action, Yong Jun-hyung, commonly known as Junhyung, withdrew from Highlight Thursday to prevent his group from suffering damage to its reputation, according to Around Us Entertainment.

Junhyung debuted as a Beast member in 2009. In 2016, Beast members left Cube Entertainment and formed their own label. Junhyung starred in the 2013 television series, Monster.

The agency said Junhyung shared a sex video file with Jung in late 2015 and exchanged "inappropriate conversations."

In his statement, Junhyung apologized for disappointing fans and showing a "serious moral hazard." "I am well aware that this is an unforgivable thing." Initially, he had denied his involvement before he was questioned by police as a witness on Wednesday.

Junhyung became the second artist to be implicated in the sex video scandal. His announcement came after police questioned Jung on charges of sharing illegally filmed sex file video files with others, including Seungri, in the chat room of a smartphone app. Seungri is suspected of arranging sexual services for foreign investors in 2015.
