SEOUL -- Kai, an EXO member, broke up with BLACKPINK's Jennie in less than a month after an online media outlet exposed the romance of two K-pop heart-throbs, shaking South Korea's music community.
EXO's management agency, SM Entertainment, said in a brief statement on Friday that Kai split up with Jennie. BLACKPINK has been on a concert tour of Asian cities that would end on March 3 in Taipei.
In a report on January 1, Dispatch reported that the 25-year-old EXO rapper was dating with the 23-year-old BLACKPINK lead vocal. Photographs showed them walking hand-in-hand at a park in Seoul in November last year. SM admitted that Kai and Jennie have good feelings, while YG Entertainment claimed it did not know.
Fans have filed public petitions on the presidential website, calling for the shutdown of Dispatch, which is known for exposing the private life of celebrities, for violating privacy. The presidential website has become a place for active public debate since President Moon Jae-in, a former human rights lawyer, took office in March 2017.
