SEOUL -- The brokerage subsidiary of Mirae Asset, a top financial and asset management group in South Korea, has acquired a stake in U.S. e-commerce giant Amazon's new distribution center near Atlanta, Georgia, for $78 million.

Mirae Asset Daewoo said Wednesday that the facility, completed in July, was a profitable asset because Amazon has a contract to lease for up to 25 years after a 15-year term lease.

Mirae Asset plans to sell some of its stake in the logistics center directly to institutional and other investors. The Mirae group has aggressively invested in foreign assets. It acquired the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa in 2016 and invested $95 million in the Cosmopolitan, a landmark resort casino in Las Vegas, in January this year.
