SEOUL -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in forecast a flurry of diplomacy to open a new order in Northeast Asia, saying there could be a series of talks between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and other leaders from China, Russia and Japan.

Moon's optimistic view came at a Cabinet meeting Monday, a day after U.S. Secretary of Stae Mike Pompeo met with Kim in Pyongyang to arrange a second meeting between U.S. and North Korean leaders.

Along with his planned second summit with U.S. President Donald Trump, Kim may visit Russia while Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Pyongyang is expected to take place, Moon said, suggesting a summit between North Korea and Japan is also possible.

"A new order is really being created on the Korean peninsula," Moon said, adding the change on the Korean peninsula would probably bring a new order to Northeast Asia.
