SEOUL -- South Korea's state mint unveiled a special set of gold, silver and bronze medals commemorating a historic inter-Korean summit in April at the truce village of Panmunjom.

The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation said Monday that 3,000 gold medals, 30,000 silver medals and 50,000 bronze medals were on sale from Monday. The gold medal was priced at 1.19 million won ($1,054), the silver at 89,000 won and the bronze at 32,000 won.

The medals captured the moment of South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un shaking hands against the backdrop of the Korean peninsula on its front. The back side showed them crossing a borderline and a slogan "PEACE, A NEW START" in Korean and English.

In a symbolic move, the two leaders together crossed a raised, foot-wide concrete curb that serves as the borderline in Panmunjom in the middle of the demilitarized zone that bisects the Korean peninsula.

Overseas sales of the South Korean medals will be handled by the Singapore Mint, which also issued the second series of medals commemorating the summit between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump. Singapore issued the first series on June 5.

On the front of the new medals issued by Singapore, U.S. and North Korean flags were placed. On the back, the handshake of Trump and Kim was designed on the background of their agreement.
