SEOUL -- Boy band EXO will finally start receiving pre-orders for its much-anticipated commemorative medals this month. The nine-member group became the first K-pop idol band to have its own medals issued by a state mint.

Solip Entertainment, the official distributor of EXO medals, said Thursday that it would start receiving pre-orders for limited edition sets of the medals on April 23. Only 100 sets will be available through a pre-order event at 11st, an online shopping mall.

The normal version of EXO medals will be available at 11st and the state mint's online shopping store for a week from April 30. The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corp. (KOMSCO) will print medals on the orders it received during the seven-day period.

Both sets will include nine silver medals bearing the faces of EXO members but their packaging design and size would be different, Solip said, adding it would reveal detailed information at a launching ceremony to be held a few days before the pre-order event.

Last year, the state mint released a limited set of silver and bronze medals showing the kiss scene of South Korea's K-pop star couple Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo who starred in TV drama hit "Descendants of the Sun".
