SEOUL, Dec. 19 (Aju News) -- Vulnerable places like changing rooms, public restrooms and bathhouses will be a safe zone free of any fixed or portable cameras and other filming devices under a new bill endorsed by South Korea's cabinet on Tuesday.
The bill, which requires parliamentary approval, bans the installation or use of all filming or photographing devices at places vulnerable to hidden cameras targeting young women, according to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Violators face a fine of up to 50 million won (45,870 US dollars).
The bill contained strengthened portrait rights. The unauthorized online use of images and pictures can be deleted at the request of the person concerned.
President Moon Jae-in has called for "special" measures to curb sex crimes taking furtive pictures with secret or hidden cameras targeting young women at company bathrooms, public restrooms and other private places.
