The management agency of Kangin, a member of South Korea's popular boy band Super Junior, apologized for beating his girlfriend.

"We are very sorry about the incident," SJ Label said in a statement. The 32-year-old had a pre-dawn quarrel with his girlfriend at a Seoul bar on Friday.  On a report by a bar employee, police officers arrived at the scene, but the case was dropped because the girlfriend did not want any punishment.

"Once again, we are very sorry for being involved such an incident, especially when Kangin has a time of self-reflection," the agency said.

The singer was slapped with a fine of seven million won (6,378 US dollars) in July last year for drunk driving into a street light. Fans have argued Kangin should be expelled from his group.

Formed in 2005, the group comprised thirteen members at its peak and gained international recognition with "Sorry, Sorry" in 2009. The boys have since worked as unit groups or individually due to personal reasons or obligatory military services.

This month, Super Junior came back as a six-member unit.  Kangin, Sungmin and Siwon were excluded. Kangin was punished for drunk driving last year and Sungmin resumed his musical solo activity in January. Siwon's family pet dog bit a neighbor who died later of bacterial infection.
