South Korea's Kia Motors has unveiled its premium performance sedan "Stinger", filled with top-of-the-line user safety and convenience technology at the 2017 Detroit auto show.

"Stinger, the essence of Kia Motors, is the brainchild which designers and engineers have developed over a long period," a Kia spokesperson said at the motor show. "Stinger features a top-notch degree of completion. Its design and performance are at its best." The carmaker had previously introduced Stinger's prototype "GT" at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011.

The silhouette of the sleek sedan emanates an aura somewhat different from its sedan brothers -- K7 and K9. Stinger will come in two trims -- a 2.0 turbo GDI engine or a V6 3.3-liter turbo GDI engine. The smaller engine can draw the maximum torque of 36 kilograms per cubic meter (255 horsepower) while the larger V6 engine pulls the maximum torque of 52 kilograms per cubic meter (370 horsepower).

Both models will feature an eight-speed automatic transmission and FR (Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive) layout. An all-wheel-driving system will be available as an option for all trims. According to Kia, the V6 model would take mere 5.1 seconds in Zero to 100 kilometers (62.1 miles) per hour. A 2013 model of "Porsche 911 Turbo S" takes an average of three seconds in zero to 100 kilometers per hour.

The sedan also provides a variety of driver safety technology, an infotainment system and a wireless charging kit to have drivers feel comfort and convenient. Kia did not mention the date of Stinger's release but said that it would hit the domestic market in the first half of this year.
