South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has passed the first round of trials with an average score of 214.6 in his attempt to become a professional bowler.
The first round took place last Saturday and Sunday at a bowling center in Anyang south of Seoul, according to the Korea Professional Bowling Association.
The 28-year-old actor scored a 30-game total of 6,439 for an average of 214.6. The first-round cut was set at 190. Lee Hongki, a member of rock band F.T. Island, narrowly qualified for the second round with an average score of 191.
The second round will be held from October 29. Kim and Lee should bowl more than an average of 200 to pass the second round. Qualifiers will go through a four-day program. Through a series of evaluations, the association will pick ten finalists.
Kim, who gained fame for his role in South Korea's hit drama "My Love from the Star", is a well-known bowling lover.
