South Korean singer-songwriter and TV personality Jung Joon-young was expelled Thursday from a popular TV program to take responsibility for a sex scandal involving his ex-girlfriend.
The state-run KBS TV station said Jung would stay away from its popular variety show "Two Days, One Night" because of an "unhappy" incident pending an investigation by prosecutors.
The 27-year-old faces a criminal investigation for an alleged sexual offense, although his former girlfriend dropped her suit accusing the singer of filming her secretly during their sexual activities earlier this year.
Jung admitted at a press conference on Sunday that he had recorded the couple's sexual activities on consent from his estranged girlfriend.
Jung first gained public recognition after appearing on Mnet’s music competition show "Superstar K" in 2012. Since then he has been a regular guest on various TV programs.
