A couple of passengers left a taxi driver who was suspected of suffering from a heart attack to catch another taxi because they were late for their flight.

The two passengers were involved in a traffic accident which took place in Daejeon about 140 kilometers (87 miles) south of Seoul on Wednesday morning. They were aboard a taxi driven by a 62-year old man surnamed Lee.

On their way to an airport shuttle bus stop, Lee's taxi suddenly crashed into a car ahead and the taxi driver was found unconscious. Instead of providing an emergency care or calling for help, the passengers grabbed their luggage and a golf bag out of the trunk and left.

Although the driver was moved to a nearby hospital, doctors failed to resuscitate him. The passengers reportedly reported to police almost four hours later and explained that they were in a hurry to catch an airport shuttle bus, leaving behind the taxi driver. Police will continue an investigation into the exact cause of the driver's death.
