"The Wave", a 2015 Norwegian catastrophe drama film, will be shown next month at South Korea's first theater using SubPac, a tactile bass system that makes listening to music a full body experience.

The theater, run by South Korea's largest multiplex cinema chain, will open on July 1 with its seats mounted with the SubPac S2. Viewers can adjust the strength of vibrations with jog shuttles.

The Wave directed by Roar Uthaug will be shown from July 14. Box rents were set at 15,000 won (12.8 US dollars) in midweek and 17,000 won at the weekend.

The SubPac system, which is either worn as a backpack or pressed against on the back of a chair, transfers low frequencies to the body. Instead of being conducted through the air, vibrations pass through the SubPac's membrane.

SubPac is a brand developed by John Alexiou and his SubPac co-founder Todd Chernecki. It has two products: the SubPac M2, a wearable vest, and the SubPac S2, a seatback device.

CJ E&M, an entertainment and media contents unit of the CJ Group, will also sell SubPac's wearable products in South Korea.
