"Lucky Romance", a new romantic comedy drama of MBC, which had its first episode aired on Wednesday, recorded a 10.3 percent viewership rating, said a TV viewership research company Nielsen Korea.
The drama's main character is played by Hwang Jeong-eum, who is also known as the "drama queen" as every drama she appears in becomes a hit. The Wednesday's viewership rating is reflecting the actress' popularity. The previous Wednesday-Thursday drama "Goodbye Mr. Black" recorded 3.9 percent viewership rating for its first episode and 9.9 percent for its last.
The new romantic comedy depicts a story about a young woman who believes in superstitions and a video game company CEO.
With the main Ryu Jun-yeol, who gained fame from "Reply 1988" and Hwang Jeong-eum as the main actor and actress, Luck Romance is expected to become a hit. It also follows a trend of successful dramas, being a remake of a famous webtoon originally created by author Kim Dal-nim.
