China’s publicity chief Liu Qibao visited Dongyang Art Center at Hyehwa-dong, Seoul on Sunday during his visit to South Korea.
Liu was accompanied by Lee Eui-choon, the assistant vice minister of South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as Kim Young-jong who heads Seoul's Jongno district office.
The center is the first full-time Chinese movie theater to open in South Korea. Co-operated by the Jongno district office and the Chinese cultural center, it offers more than two films a month at no charge.
"I think it’s a great way to introduce Chinese culture to South Korean people, especially young people like students," Liu said after enjoying a short clip at the theater.
Liu promised to allow more joint production by South Korean and Chinese filmmakers saying that would help the two countries improve and strengthen cultural exchanges.
